Wolters Kluwer
Country: Netherlands
2007 rank: 10

Wolters Kluwer is benefiting from 49-year-old McKinstry's tight five-year reign. Revenues grew modestly last year, to $6.3 billion, but the Dutch publishing and online services company's strong balance sheet provided expansion opportunities. Wolters Kluwer is poised to acquire UpToDate, an $80 million medical information resource used by 320,000 subscribers all over the world.
