The chain went through two post-Schultz CEOs. Overexpansion troubles began in 2006, and chairman Schultz replaced CEO No. 2, Jim Donald, with ... himself. But Schultz's efforts this year to turn the coffee house around have so far stumbled: The company reported Nov. 10 a 97% drop in quarterly profits and announced it would close 600 U.S. stores, more than previously expected.
