Cisco, the tech giant known for Internet routers and networking equipment, continued growing in new areas like data storage and video conferencing.

Profits grew 10% to $8.1 billion in 2008. Led by CEO John Chambers, the company increased cash reserves to $26 billion as other Silicon Valley firms struggled to survive the downturn.
