Robert Allbritton
Job title: Publisher, Politico

The son of Washington D.C. media and baking mogul Joseph Allbritton founded the influential Web site and newspaper Politico.

He started the beltway must-read in 2007 with top reporters from The Washington Post and Time; it quickly became known for breaking presidential campaign stories like Sarah Palin's $150,000 shopping spree and John McCain's inability to remember the number of houses he owns.

Allbritton's father, Joseph, owned The Washington Star in the 1970s and ran Riggs Bank, which was known for a clientele that included 22 past and present U.S. presidents.

NEXT: Tyler Perry
