Wilbur Wright College

Leaders at Wilbur Wright decided three years ago to retool the school's 12-year-old environmental technologies program to include coursework in building energy technology, which is the study of energy efficiency and alternative energy systems.

The addition has been popular, says program director Victoria Cooper: "We've had to turn people away."

According to Cooper, many of the students are already in the workforce, including electricians and carpenters. Several graduates, she says, have gone on to start their own green companies or work for local corporations and government agencies.
