Founder, Saba Capital Management
Age: 37
Rank change: New
Industry: Finance

A pioneer in derivatives, trading whiz Weinstein joined Deutsche Bank at age 24 and became the youngest managing director in its history. But his $10 billion trading desk got hit in the credit freeze, losing some $1 billion (positions Deutsche Bank held on to ultimately rebounded). Loyal investors still poured more than $1.5 billion into his new hedge fund, Saba, and they have been rewarded: He has yet to have a down month and this year is beating the credit fund average with returns near 9%.

Checkmate: A chess master, Weinstein recently beat Garry Kasparov in a charity tournament.
