Why it's admired
Disney slips six spots this year as shake-ups at the company's disappointing movie studio have brought in new leadership. Last year the company announced a long-term distribution deal with Dreamworks SKG and, hoping to jump on the superhero bandwagon, acquired Marvel Entertainment for $4 billion. Still, the company is a known leader in animation, and its ESPN division has become a powerful growth engine. --C.T.
