Why it's admired
With the goal of saving $300 million annually, the food and beverage maker acquired two of its bottlers last year, including Pepsi Bottling Co, which it had spun off in 1999, for $7.8 billion in cash. Cost cutting is high on the list of priorities for PepsiCo, which has seen stagnant sales in recent years. The company also made headlines when it skipped running Super Bowl commercials last month, instead opting for social media advertising. --C.T.
