Amid falling sales for its sodas and bottled water in the U.S., Coke managed double-digit earnings growth in 2009.

The company can thank the developing world for the lift. As CEO Muhtar Kent noted, Coke's growth in China, India, Mexico and Brazil during the year was equivalent to adding another Germany -- its sixth largest market.
